Our history
More than 85 years of golfing tradition in Morocco: from the rediscovered origins of 1937 to today's academy.

Contrary to a widely held belief, the founding of the Royal Golf Club Agadir does not date back to 1952. In reality, the official inauguration of the club took place well before that date, precisely on Sunday 28 February 1937 at 3:30 PM. This information, long forgotten, was rediscovered thanks to a press excerpt dated 9 March 1937, found entirely by chance. This historical discovery sheds light on the fascinating origins of a club that, for more than eight decades, has embodied a true golfing tradition in Morocco.
The Royal Golf Club Agadir was born from the vision and joint efforts of three prominent figures. Dr Sallard, the club's first president, played a central role in its creation. He was joined by Colonel Vignoli, then commander of the territory, and by Mr Sautriot, head of the land registry. Together they worked to establish this ambitious project. Mr Sautriot, in particular, facilitated the acquisition and provision of the land on which the club was built.
This collaboration between influential figures of the era laid the foundations of a sporting facility that would shape the history of the Agadir region. The choice of location, with its spectacular natural scenery, already reflected the ambition to make the Royal Golf Club Agadir a unique place, both sporting and convivial.
The giant eucalyptus trees lining the course and the vibrant bougainvillea around the clubhouse bear witness to the club's rich, living history.
A huge jacaranda at the club entrance offers a spectacular blue bloom for three weeks a year, dazzling visitors and members alike.
Since its founding, the Royal Golf Club Agadir has evolved to meet golfers' expectations. The course and facilities have been modernised to host high-level competitions. The club has established itself as a major player in Moroccan golf, attracting national and international players.
Beyond its sporting role, the Royal Golf Club Agadir stands out for its social and educational commitment. Since its founding, the club has made it its mission to promote golf as a tool for social inclusion and personal development.
This commitment took shape in 2005 with the founding of the Royal Golf Club Agadir Academy. The initiative aims to democratise access to golf, particularly for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Thanks to the academy, these young people can discover and practise the sport free of charge while acquiring valuable technical and social skills.
The "First Tee" programme, adopted by the club in 2019, perfectly illustrates this ambition. Originating in the United States, the programme is based on fundamental values such as honesty, integrity, respect and perseverance. It offers young people a unique opportunity for education and social integration through golf.
The Royal Golf Club Agadir has also made its mark on Moroccan golf history through its sporting achievements. The club team, made up exclusively of young players trained at the academy, has twice won the prestigious Coupe du Trône. These victories demonstrate the club's excellence in training and coaching.
Even after a difficult period linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team bounced back successfully. In the 2022 Coupe du Trône, the club's young players reached the semi-finals, where they lost to Palm Golf Casablanca, the overall winner of that edition. This remarkable performance qualified them for the 2023 Coupe du Trône, consolidating their place among the best clubs in the country.
Today, the Royal Golf Club Agadir is much more than a golf course. It is a place of meeting, exchange and passion for golf enthusiasts from all walks of life. With its modern facilities, exceptional natural setting and rich heritage, the club offers a unique experience to members and visitors.
Whether to practise, compete or simply enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the clubhouse, the Royal Golf Club Agadir wins people over with its authenticity and its commitment to the community.
As the club celebrates 85 years of existence, it continues to look to the future with ambition. Current development projects aim to further strengthen its role as a pillar of golf in Morocco, including investment in facilities, initiatives to promote access to golf for young people, and efforts to attract high-level competitions.
The Royal Golf Club Agadir thus embodies a modern, inclusive vision of golf while remaining true to its roots and history. This unique blend of tradition and innovation makes the club a key player on the Moroccan and international golf scene.
Our academy
Founded in 2005, the Royal Golf Club Agadir Academy trains young talent from all backgrounds. More than sporting tuition, it passes on values of respect, perseverance and open-mindedness, making golf a genuine lever for social inclusion.

Overview
The Royal Golf Club Agadir is a sports association committed to promoting golf as a genuine tool for social inclusion.
To pursue this mission, the Royal Golf Club Agadir Academy was founded in 2005. This unprecedented initiative aims to democratise a sport often seen as elitist by enabling young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods to discover and practise golf free of charge.
The Academy's main objective is twofold: to pass on the technical and practical knowledge of golf, and to teach a code of conduct based on respect, perseverance and open-mindedness.
Some of the young talents trained at the Academy go on to careers as professional players or teachers, while others move into golf professions (starter, greenkeeper, caddie master, caddie, gardener, pro shop staff, etc.).
The "First Tee" programme was created in the United States in 1997. It is based on universal values: honesty, integrity, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, judgement and courtesy. Its goal is to give young people from under-represented backgrounds the chance to flourish and grow personally through golf.
The programme has been established in Morocco since 2019, following an agreement signed between the FRMG and First Tee USA. It serves as a tool for education and social integration, complementing existing golf schools.
The Royal Golf Club Agadir joined the initiative in 2019, signing an objectives contract and training its young players with a federal coach, assisted by the club's local coaches. When the children reach a certain level, they join the Academy proper to perfect their training.
The Royal Golf Club Agadir Academy is organised around five levels, from Poussins to Juniors, for young people aged 9 to 18.
Coaching is provided jointly by the FRMG federal coach and the club's trainers. Young players receive both theoretical and practical training covering the technical aspects of the game, strategy, discipline and team spirit.
Depending on their progress, they are selected to take part in "Junior" competitions organised by the FRMG. These entries are fully funded by the Royal Golf Club Agadir.
This approach enables the Academy to train not only high-performing players but also responsible citizens who carry the values of golf.
In 2023 the FRMG launched a sports-studies programme to detect and select talents who will be trained to join the UM6P Sports-Studies Excellence High School and the sports-studies high schools set up by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports.
This tailored programme includes an academic excellence component and golf training by specialised coaches.
Building on the development programme and the golf schools, the Road to Lydex.SE programme is the first stage in selecting young talent. The project strengthens the federation's presence in the regions, both in terms of human resources and in monitoring the actions initiated or subsidised by the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation. Relying on the Regional Technical Coaches (CTR) and working with club coaches (qualified federal trainers), it develops the entire federal sporting pathway.
